Ketogenius - UK Keto snack box review!

Hi, this is my very first product review! Feel free to follow me on here, for more reviews like this, and to follow my health and weight loss blog! (I have not been paid or given anything free, in exchange to do this review)

​​My very eye-catching, keto snack box!

When I received the snack box it was much smaller than I imagined, but I was pleasantly surprised when I opened this to find it crammed to the brim with keto goodies. Safe to say, it felt like it was my birthday opening this box to reveal treats I could actually eat on keto! :D

This is the list of items I received in my box for this September, and I have tried jotting down the carb content for each product -

Activated Pili nuts x2

in turmeric + Ginger and Original - Both packets where 0.8g carb each

I had never tried Pili nuts before, and I have to say they are super creamy and definitely moreish! You get such a good amount per pack, and they are very filling!

The turmeric and ginger where my favourite, and I added a pinch of Himalayan pink salt to my original pack.

Adonis low-sugar nut bar (

(Pecan, Goji berry + Cocoa)

2g net carb for this bar

This was tasty, especially as an on the go snack or a quick bite to eat whilst your out the door! I won't lie, it gave you a chocolatey hit, but I wouldn't rave about it. But consideriny the carb content is 2g for the bar, I think it's pretty impressive.

Oloves (Olives)

in basil + garlic 1g of carb for the packet

I hate Olives normally, though I have heard rave reviews about this company!

I did try one, expecting my usual reaction whenever I try an olive. Which is a somewhat very unattractive face! Though I was quite shocked although I don't usually like olives, it wasn't unbearable. So I will have to leave it to the olive addicts out there to judge!

Itsu beef twerky

I love any Jerky! But unfortunately, this had Soy in so I was unable to try these! D:

Though quite honestly beef jerky is always good, this was in teriyaki flavour.

The snuffling pig pork crackling

in salt + vinegar flavour, 1g for the entire pack

So one of my favourite products out of this box would have to be the pork crackling. I love it normally as it's great for keto, but the company that makes these and the salt + vinegar flavour are the tastiest pork crackling I have ever tasted! I seriously have to stock up on these, I think I wolfed down the pack within 2 minutes. Oops! Definitely, will be purchasing from now on!

FBOMB Fuel

Salted chocolate macadamia nut butter 5.5g for the packet

This is beyond lovely! I added 2tsp of this to my coconut collab yoghurt, and this made a really tasty, dairy free sweet treat! I also love the fact it's in a convenient pouch. Which may I add it is also a pretty decent size, I love that you can take it on the go anywhere!

Itsu crispy seaweed thins

0.6g carb for the packet

Unfortunately these may have traces of soy in, so I have yet to try these!

Smokin coconut pecks

Air dried raw coconut chips 3.8g carb

One word - Wow! How have I never trued these before? These tasted like a very spot on delicious bbq crisp substitute!

MESTRENGTH x2

Electrolytes + creatine powders x2 in kiwi strawberry + orange - 0g carb for both

I tried the kiwi and strawberry yesterday, delicious flavour. Make sure you use the right amount of water or it can become quite sour towards the end! And also when it says mix it up, mix it up properly!

Chewey natural chewing gum

I can't get the proper carb amount for these, but I do think they are zero!

Wow!! A natural chewing gum?! And the flavour actually lasts so much longer than normal chewing gum, I am sold!

Really thrilled with these little chewing gum squares (kind of look like sugar cubes)

Raven 100% dark chocolate.

Vegan, vegetarian, dairy free, gluten free and refined sugar free.

25g again I can't find the carb content for this but I would guess very low!

(Saving this until the weekend)

Coconut macadamia butter Nut blend (miniature pot)

Per 100g is 4,3g of carb

(This is super delicious! I have tried these before and the combination is dreamy!)

Whey large sachet

4.4g for the entire packet

(Haven't tried as unfortunately dairy)

Virtue sparkling energy water

Lemon + Lime 0g carb in the can

This was really zesty and delicious, it had yerba mate, ginseng + guarana in for a super energy boost! I definitely noticed my energy peeling up after drinking this.

16 yummy keto friendly goodies, packed in my box this month! :O (September 2017 box)

So pictured above is the contents of my ketogenius snack box, that I received this morning. The company promises 10+ Keto friendly items per box, plus one supplement. They also promise they can customise each box to suit your dietary requirements and that they also will not stand for any artificial sweeteners including maltitol/aspartame or sugar alcohols in their boxes. They also state that each item won't be more than 5g net carb per serving, which I think is great and takes the hassle out of having to track constantly.

Now this company looks like it has only recently launched, I did state in my order notes no dairy, soy or gluten as I'm intolerant to them. They sent me an amazing bunch of keto snacks, but they did send me Jerky which contained soy, they also sent me a whey packet of some sort. I messaged them via their Instagram page, and I received a response within the hour! Great customer service, they are sending me some more snacks to make up for this mishap, and have also contacted the manufacturers of both products and assured me that my next box will be gluten, dairy and soy free and have sent their apologies. Which to be honest, is absolutely fine by me as the box I think is truly amazing!

Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, Dairy-free you name it! They can make it happen :)

There are two types of boxes the Beta box, which is a one-time only box you can purchase, to try this out for yourself, or there is the Alpha monthly subscription box. Both boxes are priced at £32.99, and are sent out on the 15th of each month, but if you miss ordering they can also be sent out on the 30th.

What I love about this box -

It looks incredible, you receive a decent amount of products, and most importantly most of the products can't be found in our stores, and are sourced from the Uk, America and other places such as Canada. I love not knowing what I will receive, and it feels like a present to myself each month. I love that I can snack and stay in ketosis, which in turn keeps me right on track!

I also like the fact they added in natural chewing gum - To help with the foul keto breath we sometimes find ourselves with! Electrolyte sachets which are vital in ketosis, and also an energy drink, and plenty of nut butter for the extra fats! Makes me think they actually put really good thought into these boxes! :)

What could be improved on this box -

I think it would be great if it was a little cheaper perhaps, as I've seen some people complain that this is too much money per month, I do think it's worth it personally myself. But It would be great if it was a little cheaper as I know that it has put some people of purchasing. Their website states free shipping on either box, but I was charged £2.99, so I would message them first to double check this. I also think that it would be a good idea for a booklet to be included with the box, with recipe suggestions/tips/advice about ketosis and such. But obviously this could be looked more into in the future.

Shipment is on the 15th and I received this on the 20th, so 5 working days for anyone who is wondering how long delivery takes, though they do provide you with a tracking number in your emails.

Mark and Avni are the founders of this ketogenic box, and this company is based in London, UK.

If you want to send the box as a gift (not just to yourself) You can let them know any notes, you want to be included in your order and it will be shipped to them.

They encourage suggestions for any keto products, that you would like to see in the boxes that you may have come across! I recently suggested KNOW better cookies from the US, they are 4g net carb, and the size of your head! They have said they will take this suggestion on board, and try and get them into one of the boxes! hooray! :)

The customer service from them is superb, they have Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, which are all at the bottom of their web page.

In conclusion -

i think this box is perfect for anyone following the ketogenic way of eating, as it's nice to allow yourself treats from time to time and not deprive yourself, At the same time knowing your not being kicked out of ketosis, and that your hard work isn't getting ruined. This box somehow makes keto more fun, and it takes the time out of looking around in your local supermarket for keto friendly snacks, and if you have intolerance's like me you are probably there for an extra hour!

£30 may seem a little steep, but how I see it as you can pop into a local co-op and walk out having spent the same amount, on what exactly?! The number of times I have done this is unreal. Plus you probably spend the same amount or more whilst you're out grocery shopping on snacks anyway, I know I do! I honestly love this box having ordered the beta box, and will be cancelling my other health food subscription box this week!
